Landscape drawing and painting during Summer 2009 in and around Amsterdam
During Summer 2009 some landscape drawing and painting sessions will be organised in Amsterdam and surroundings by Peter Eurlings. During the lessons this genre is treated in terms of art history but mainly in terms of materials, techniques and definitions like space, depth, composition etc.
The class/ lesson
You will be accompanied in the choice of your material and technique and if you don't know then recommended is to start with charcoal, pencil or ink. If you want to work with colours then water-colours, gouache or acrylics will do a fine job. As charcoal and ink belong to the basic materials like sketching paper, these materials are included in the price.
What to bring
Although the classes are included materials you are free to bring your own. Maybe a folding chair to sit on, a field easel, umbrella and lunch, although comfortable but not nescessary!
Any questions or register to join, don't forget to mention the materials you like to work with: info@petereurlings.nl or phone: 0642971097.
Sunday July 26th. 2009 we will draw and paint in Zuiderwoude. Send an email if you like to join. Public transport details from Amsterdam:

The Hortus Botanicus Amsterdam is one of the oldest botanic gardens in the world. Today, there are more than 4,000 plant species growing in the garden and greenhouses. The Hortus is located in the Plantage district on the edge of the hectic center of Amsterdam. Behind the 300-year-old gates, however, the bustle of the city seems to disappear. Ransdorp, Sunday July 5th. 2009
Beautiful situated in the flat country with a strong churchtower which sticks out high above the landscape. Perhaps we can climb the tower to overlook and sketch the surrounding landscape. Beautiful reflections of many ditches, sheep (?) and green grazing land. Take care for your own drinks and perhaps packed lunch. Sunday there is chance it might rain again therefore do not forget to take an umbrella and rain clothing. A folding chair/ plastic sack to sit on might be comfortable. For those who like to try to sketch with oil paint, I will supply study paint and paper, included in the price! Notice me if you like to join and the kind of materials you like to work with.
