In the traditional lessons aspects like e.g. proportion, light-dark logic (chiaroscuro), sketching and painting techniques will be the subject. Short and longer excercises in different techniques and materials will give you a better understanding of traditional image making wich functions as a valuable basic also in the more modernistic, avant garde and conceptual art treatment

Next to the traditional lessons classes are given with the focus on the experiment. Drawing and painting is more or less making combinations of signs on a surface wich can tell a personal story or concept. Putting yourself into learning boundaries of image making aspects as a goal for learning and understanding these aspects is a way of collecting tools in your image making toolbox. Also suitable for those who just want to have an exchange about their own ideas of making art with the teacher in the role of sound board. |

Life drawing and painting session are ment for studying and improving your skills in drawing and painting the human face and body. Different techniques will be the subject of the session. Sometimes really hard working but having fun is also very important. The theme of the lessons this week will be portraiture/ figure. Mass drawing (charcoal) and painting (acrylics or oil) Suitable for beginners and advanced. |

As a drawer or painter it is advisable to visit regularly exhibitions to study the solutions that artists have chosen to tell their story in image language. The teacher will discuss the different technical aspects of an artwork comleted with some historical 'facts'. Please note: that the tour is free for class participants but you have to pay the admission for the museum. 'Museumjaarkaarthouders' (holders of the Museum year card) have free access. It is advisable to buy a museum yearcard because we will visit more often museums. |
